New York, NY (February 19, 2013) – Cinematic Music Group's Joey Bada$$ and his New York City-based rap crew Pro Era embark on the Beast Coastal Tour this spring, joined by DJ Statik Selektah and Brooklyn's own Beast Coast brothers Flatbush Zombies and The Underachievers. The 20+ North American tour kicks off in Portland on 3/21 and will wrap in NYC at the Gramercy Theatre on 4/20, a concert in honor of late Pro Era co-founder Capital STEEZ.
Joey Bada$$ and his crew of fellow teenage visionaries CJ Fly, Kirk Knight, Nyck Caution, Dessy Hinds and others will be performing music from Joey’s debut mixtape 1999, Pro Era's most recent critically-acclaimed P.E.E.P. The aPROcalypse mixtape and “Unorthodox” the Green Label Sound collaboration from Joey Bada$$ and DJ Premier. Fans can download the track for free as well as watch a behind the scenes from the forthcoming music video produced by Creative Control's Coodie and Chike at www.greenlabelsound.com. The group will be doing in-stores along the way at select Ecko Unltd retail locations, meeting with fans and signing limited edition special tour merchandise.

Man, i'm truly heartbroken on this Christmas Eve. Late last night the world lost Pro-Era member Capital STEEZ at the young age of 19. For the last 3 days twitter, Facebook, & every hip hop outlet in the world has been praising their newest mixtape, #PEEP: The aPROcalypse. And just like that, we lose one of the most promising new voices in music. The picture above was taken by me a few months ago while we were in my crib recording "Like Water", which happens to be the first song on the new tape. This reminds me all too much of the loss of Kid Hood, who many only heard on Tribe's acclaimed & classic "Scenario" Remix 20 years ago. The Era has the closest resemblence to what Hood's Native Toungues affiliates represented ever since. I have been praising what these kids have been doing for not just NYC but for Hip Hop in general for a while now. My love & energy goes out to Joey, CJ, Shipes, & the entire Pro Era fam.
Listen to "Like Water" below... which will never be the same to me, especially with the scratch i layed down right before STEEZ's verse. Gone but not forgotten. His music will live forever...
