For years now, dozens of NYC rappers have been saying they’re “bringing New York back”, but that revival has yet to be really seen. The trap/Southern sound still trends heavily, and the lack of boom-bap is still scarce. Top 40-style songs, EDM and Hip-Hop/Rap music devoid of drums and breaks still top the charts. Now, thanks in part to Sirius XM’s DJ S-Whit, we get to explore what went wrong in her latest, upcoming Kickstarter-funded documentary,#TheNewYorkRapRevival. The doc will feature AZ, Sway, Troy Ave, Rob Markman, Emilio Rojas and a host of others.
