Follow the rise of R&B group TLC from it's Atlanta inception to recording studios, the Grammy Awards, and the days following the tragic death of Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes. Starring Drew Sidora as Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, Keke Palmer as Rozanda "Chilli" Thomas, and LIl Mama as Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes.
R&B singer Pebbles Reid who was married to LaFace record label executive L.A. Reid at the time signs 3 teen misfits [town boys Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes and former background singer/dancer for 90's R&B group Damien Dame] to her fledgling label Pebbleton.
The Vh-1 TV movie did a good job at potraying TLC's former manager Pebbles as an evil sinister "Paper Gangster" who does everything in her power to stop Chilli from having a boyfriend and blocking TLC from looking at their music contracts.
TLC don't even write their own songs. TLC is not the only girl group who don't make money from their records [En Vogue, 3WL, The Supremes, 702, etc.]
But anyway after TLC get rid of Pebbles as their manager, the movie focuses on TLC and their cheating boyfriends and the recording of their second album.
After the album sells 10 million copies, TLC realizes that they're still not making any money from their records. After this revelation they finally decide to get a lawyer.
Even Keke Palmer [as Chilli] and Lil' Mama [as "Left Eye"] were okay in the film, Drew Sidora [as Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins] had 5 lines during the whole movie.
I also noticed a couple some inconsistant things in the film too.
The movie was set in the early 90's but everyone in the film had Sidekicks.
Very Brightskin T-Boz has a darkskin mom in the film.
VH1's "CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story" premiering Monday October 21st at 9/8c.
