Maybach Music Group leader Rick Ross has announced plans to release his long-awaited Mastermind solo album later this year.
Rick Ross will be releasing his upcoming album Mastermind on December 17. He revealed the release date on Twitter and posted two different images as part of his announcement. No word yet on if either image will eventually be used as his album art, though the likelihood is very low. The release of Ross' sixth studio album will coincide with his "Mastermind" tour which is scheduled to begin in November. Thus far he's dropped the Future-assisted single "No Games." That song has had modest success, reaching No. 45 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. (Complex)
Last summer, the "Boss" acknowledged music icon Curtis Mayfield's 1972 "Give Me Your Love" anthem's tone and said he wanted it to represent his sixth solo offering.
"That's most definitely the feel and that's why I made sure I wanted to open at the top of the new year," Rozay told MTV News on June 3, when he and his MMG team sat with us to discuss the release of their upcoming Self Made, Vol. 3 compilation. "I wanted to make that clear for the ones that paid attention that that's most definitely my vibe." Ross says we can expect that sound to make up at least some of his album, but he never knows where his creative bounds may lie. "I love making those kind of records, those 'Cigar Music' records, those 'Amsterdam' records, and that was most definitely the energy, but I record so much material -- we gotta wait and see," he said. In early January, Ross chose a very cinematic way to unleash his Mastermind title.
Rick Ross is much busier than you. In 2012 -- all while running Maybach Music Group -- he released two mixtapes, an MMG comp and probably the best album of his career thus far, God Forgives, I Don't. (Somewhere in there, he also found time to nab a role in the Starz series "Magic City"). Well, 2013 is shaping up to be more of the same from Rozay. Today (January 7) he premiered a trailer for his sixth album, Mastermind, which is set to drop later this year. The clip features all the hallmarks of the Bawse Life: booze, babes, hot tubs, leopard prints, actual leopards. (Idolator)
A week prior, Rozay revealed plans to announce his new LP title online.
"For everyone still celebrating New Years like myself..Im now releasing NEW LP Title Jan.7!!"
"Jan7 we unify the belts.can only be one.," Ross tweeted January 2nd. (Rick Ross' Twitter)
