Homophobic slurs in Eminem Newest Single “Rap God” upsets middle-aged critics

Eminem's new single "Rap God" and its rapid fire lyrics have enjoyed wide-eyed, favorable responses from fans.

But several crusty middle-aged music out of touch writers have pointed out Eminem’s blatant use of homophobic slurs in his latest single “Rap God” from his upcoming album "Marshall Mathers LP 2."

I’ve compiled some of the most offensive lyrics here.
“Little gay-looking boy / So gay I can barely say it with a straight face-looking boy / You witnessing massacre like you watching a church gathering taking place-looking boy / ‘Oy vey, that boy’s gay,’ that’s all they say looking-boy / You take a thumbs up, pat on the back, the way you go from your label every day-looking boy.”
And:
“Even though I walk in the church and burst in a ball of flames / Only Hall of Fame I be inducted in is the alcohol of fame / On the wall of shame / You fags think it’s all a game ’til I walk a flock of flames.”
Those lyrical nuggets come about midway through the song. Earlier, in the first verse, Em raps:
“I attempt these lyrical acrobat stunts while I’m practicing that / I’ll still be able to break a motherfuckin’ table / Over the back of a couple of faggots and crack it in half / Only realized it was ironic I was signed to Aftermath after the fact.”
But Eminem has in past years spoken in favor of gay marriage, performed alongside Elton John and insisted he holds nothing against gay people.

But that does little to comfort Scott Meslow of The Week.
"I don't particularly care what Eminem actually believes — I care what he's preaching to the 'new school of students that he brags about having on 'Rap God,'" Meslow wrote in an article headlined "Eminem's 'Rap God' is incredibly homophobic, and no one is talking about it."
"Since the height of Eminem's popularity, hip-hop's biggest names have made major strides to tear down the once-entrenched homophobia of the genre... Eminem had a similar opportunity to demonstrate growth as both an artist and a human being — and once again, he failed to take it"
